MENLO PARK, CA  -- Spock.com has announced the closing of a $7 million series A funding round received from Clearstone Venture Partners and Opus Capital Ventures.

The company is developing an internet search site focused on searching for people - a direct competitor to existing people contact sites such as LinkedIn and Plaxo.

The proceeds of the financing will be used to hire additional staff, increase the company's infrastructure and accelerate product development in advance of the expected early 2007 launch.
